Tour overview
Singapore is a sovereign island city-state located in Southeast Asia, positioned at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It lies just north of the equator and is surrounded by the Singapore Strait to the south and the Johor Strait to the north, where it shares a land and maritime boundary with Malaysia. Singapore also lies close to Indonesia’s Riau Islands to the south. The nation covers an area of about 734 sq km (283 sq mi), significantly expanded over the years through extensive land reclamation efforts.
Singapore lies within a humid tropical rainforest climate zone, with warm temperatures and rainfall throughout the year. The island’s landscape is urban and highly developed, yet interspersed with parks, reservoirs, and nature reserves. Much of the southern coastline features reclaimed land and a world-class port, while central regions include protected green areas such as the Central Catchment Reserve and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. The Singapore River flows through the heart of the city into Marina Bay, surrounded by iconic landmarks and modern high-rise architecture. Soil composition varies from reclaimed coastal sands to sedimentary rock and granite bedrock in the central and western areas. Despite dense urbanisation, Singapore maintains abundant greenery, earning its title as a “City in a Garden.”
