Tour overview

Sydney is the capital city of the state of New South Wales, located on the southeastern coast of Australia along the Pacific Ocean. The city sits near sea level, with coastal areas rising gradually towards the Blue Mountains to the west. Sydney shares boundaries with the Central Coast region to the north and Wollongong to the south, while its western outskirts extend towards the Great Dividing Range. Geographically, the Sydney metropolitan area covers approximately 12,367 sq km (4,773 sq mi), making it one of Australia’s largest urban regions.

Sydney lies within a temperate coastal climate zone. The landscape is defined by sweeping beaches, sandstone cliffs, and a series of harbours and bays, with the famous Sydney Harbour forming the centrepiece of the city. The coastal areas feature golden sandy beaches such as Bondi and Manly, while further inland the terrain transitions into bushland, eucalyptus forests, and hilly suburban regions. The sandstone bedrock contributes to rugged coastal formations, while fertile river valleys support dense vegetation. West of the city, the land gradually rises to form the Blue Mountains, characterized by deep gorges, dramatic escarpments, and eucalyptus haze that gives the region its name.
